am I in over my head?

So today, I took another stab at “Inward.” I warmed up by playing my other pieces first. It was a shaky start but I got through it. It didn’t help that my cat decided to rub his face on my leg at the most inconvenient moments either. I decided to leave the crossed-out sections the way that they are and focus on what I had left, which wasn’t a whole lot. I may recycle those other parts later for something else. I sat the piano thinking about what to write next and then it dawned on me, after looking over my post-it, that I should be thinking about this piece as having three different sections. This may or may not be a good thing. It makes sense to me though, because I am trying to convey a certain type of experience and feeling in the listener. I have to figure how each section is going to sound, give it a key, and decide how long each part is going to be.
It just seems like this piece is getting more and more complex as time goes on. It makes me wonder if I’m up to this challenge. Especially since I have other things I like to do, other than music. I’m going to have to either buy a composition book or go borrow one from the public library, although I think I might have a fine so I’m not sure I want to go over there. The one bright spot is that I think that I may have figure out the key for the first section. I have a short bar of music that I want to incorporate into this section. It falls into the key of B-flat. So I’m going to play around with this key and see where it goes. I just hope that I will be able get going again before I find another real job and get too busy to make any progress.
